“We at Wilds Lodge school are absolutely delighted to receive the ‘Special needs initiative of the year award 2018’ ahead of other very strong nominees. The feedback we have received from parents, staff and the community has been fantastic ! Special praise was given to the first group of students who embarked on the canal project in partnership with the angling club. The initial work to dredge the canal was extremely difficult and dirty. But the students relished the challenge and attended week in week out, rain or shine. Students suddenly recognised that they were making improvements to the environment and this in turn brought self confidence and incentive to do the job! Across all age groups our students have contributed in some way towards improvements in respect of access, conservation and developing wonderful relationships with the local community. I am particularly proud of each and everyone of my students who has taken the time to attend the canal and do ‘ A great job’ ! I’m sure that they have acquired great value from these experiences and in later life will have fond memories of an incredible contribution to the environment and the local community.”

“Winning the award for Marketing/Communications Campaign of the Year 2016 was a wonderful experience and one of which we are very proud. The award celebrated the school’s collaboration with the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate which aimed to promote the arts at St Lawrence College to a wider audience. The school’s partnership with the art gallery has continued to grow to the benefit of both parties.
